LAMP: Rethinking How We Understand and Support Students

LAMP: Rethinking How We Understand and Support Students

Informed by the Cambridge CALM project, the Learning Beyond the Label approach is an evidence‑based perspective demonstrating that cognitive needs, rather than diagnostic labels, are the strongest predictors of effective support.

Learning Beyond the Label reframes SEND provision by shifting focus from diagnostic categories to the shared cognitive needs that underpin effective support. Using an innovative mapping resource, this approach strengthens consistent, inclusive practice in the classroom and across pastoral practice.

At More House, the boarding environment enables LAMP‑informed support to extend seamlessly across academic and pastoral contexts, creating a whole‑day consistency that deepens understanding and enhances each pupil’s experience.
