Julia Clouter
Julia Clouter is a leading advisor in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a focus on implementation strategies that help educators integrate assistive technology - from low-tech to AI - into inclusive teaching practices. She works with schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, correctional facilities, and policy groups, including the Department for Education, to promote independent learning and equitable educational environments.
As an ambassador for Succeed with Dyslexia and a neurodivergent practitioner, Julia shares expertise on neuroinclusive practice and supporting hidden learning needs.
She is co-author of The SENCo’s Compass with Alexandria Hough, directs The SENCo’s Compass Podcast, and contributes to leading SEND publications, including The SEND Practitioner. Her published works also include nasen’s AT mini-guide, and she designed the Literacy Toolbox Approach, a dyslexia commission recommendation now widely adopted across UK schools.
With 25 years of teaching experience—including roles as Local Authority Advisor, SENCo, SpLD specialist, and Designated Safeguarding Lead—Julia brings deep practical insight to her mission: helping educators make assistive technology accessible and impactful for all learners.
