Supporting Children with Complex Needs
Drawing upon related theory and practice, this workshop explores how practitioners can develop their understanding of complex needs through meaningful connectivity in the classroom. Practitioners will be introduced to the SPICE model, examining how learning domains interconnect to influence a child's ability to learn, communicate, and thrive. Consideration is given to how a holistic understanding of children's needs informs assessments, helps identify learning barriers whilst strengthening the quality of adult'child relationships. Opportunities are provided to support reflective practice, consider impacts of the learning environment and develop strategies to strengthen connection, communication and inclusion within their own setting.
