Making Thinking Visible: Practical Strategies for Metacognition and Executive Function

05 Feb 2027
This seminar explores how metacognitive approaches and executive functioning strategies can improve outcomes for all learners, particularly those with SEND and neurodivergent profiles. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between executive functioning, self-regulation and learning, and why difficulties with planning, organisation, memory, attention and emotional regulation are often misunderstood. Through practical examples, delegates will examine inclusive strategies that reduce cognitive load, build independence and support learner success. The session will also consider the role of leaders and SENDCOs in developing environments and whole-school approaches that strengthen inclusion, belonging and positive outcomes for children and young people.
