This session will equip SENCOs and class teachers with a practical understanding of how sensory processing differences affect children and young people in mainstream settings. We will explore evidence-informed strategies to identify and support pupils with sensory needs, adapt the learning environment, and embed inclusive sensory practices into everyday school life.
Target audience who should attend this seminar: SENCO's / Leaders / Practitioners / Support Staff / Parent & Carers / Local Authority Staff
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise how sensory processing differences may present in the classroom and wider school context.
- Identify key sensory profiles and signs of sensory dysregulation.
- Implement practical, classroom-based strategies to support sensory needs.
- Advise and support staff in applying a whole-school approach to sensory inclusion.
- Work collaboratively with families and professionals to create and review effective sensory support plans.
