Classroom strategies for learners with Dyscalculia or Maths Difficulties

The session will begin with a brief overview of specific learning difficulties in maths and dyscalculia, including definitions, indicators, and co-occurrence. We will then examine some of the key challenges learners can face with maths and share our practical, tried-and-tested solutions for use in the classroom. We will cover topics such as Math Anxiety, number sense, challenges with abstract math, and interpreting and solving word problems. 

Target audience who should attend this seminar: SENCO's / Leaders / Practitioners / Support Staff

Learning outcomes:

- A better understanding of what a SpLD in Maths is and what dyscalculia is
- An awareness of some of the challenges learners might face in the classroom
- Practical ideas to use in the classroom to effectively support learners with maths difficulties
